  Welcome Back Village View Families

You may ask “Why Do We Have To Fundraise?”  Well, did you know that the PTA provides  many of the enrichment programs and technology at Village View such as Meet the Masters Art Program, Music and Movement, Educational Assemblies, Library Books Parent Education, Reflections Art Contest, After School Enrichment Programs, Classroom Supplies, and Technology, just to mention a few.  We could never provide these extra programs without so many wonderful volunteers and monetary support. We realize that times are tough right now and our economy is down, but your support is needed in order to keep all these great programs “Alive”.  If you are unable to contribute financially, please contribute by volunteering your time toward these worthwhile programs.  Our sources of program and technology funding for the 2009-2010 school year will be provided by the following fundraising activities:

A Day With Someone Grand!

With a beautiful, warm and sunny December day setting the stage, Village View students welcomed their Grandparents and Special Friends to a most memorable day—combining classroom visits with standing room only musical presentations.   The record-breaking attendance is a perfect tribute to how lucky we are at Village View to have such a supportive community making a difference for our children at Village View.  Our popular auction with classroom baskets, classroom projects, and teacher time raised over $12,000 for our students!    Please join the PTA in thanking our dedicated chairpersons—Anne Webber & Jennifer Kokes, and all their awesome volunteers who helped make this event so successful!   Special thanks to Ms. Hoku, and the teachers & staff for their support.  Thanks to room parents & classroom project volunteers for all their work and to everyone for the amazing cookie donations—thoroughly enjoyed by all!

 Jog-A-Thon – April 2010

  • The children run laps and raise money for the chance to win great prizes.

Other Fundraising Opportunities include:

  • NEW for 2010:  Plastic Bottles & Aluminum Can Recycling!

Recycling is not only good for the environment, but good for our school too! In our mission to encourage recycling, we have found a company that will pay Village View for our plastic bottles and aluminum cans.  This money will help fund PTA programs and enrich our children’s education. Other area school’s recycling programs have made thousands of dollars with multiple friends and families contributing their bottles and cans. The Recycling Bin is located in the back of the school near the drop off area next to the Parking Lot.  Fridays will be the designated drop off day for your aluminum cans and CRV plastic bottles.  We ask that you only place aluminum cans and CRV plastic bottles in the bin. Cans and plastic bottles must be separated and bagged before placing them in the bin.  We are not allowed to accept glass as it may break and create a safety issue for those near the bin.  The Bin will be available for Drop off on Fridays from 8am to 9am only.  Please only drop off in the back to avoid any additional traffic issues in the front.  Questions Please contact:  Liane Donati at 714-377-9800.

     ·     Restaurant Nights – monthly – You have to eat anyway!! Our First Restaurant Night was a huge success at BJs.  Thanks to all the families who came out to eat for Village View.  We try to schedule these on the third Wednesday of every month.  Keep an eye on the calendar and weekly emails for the dates and locations.

·         Register your RALPHS & VONS preffered shopper cards and Target Cards – You have to shop!!  (Note:  effective Jan 2010 Albertson's discontinued its Community Partner program.)

·         Ink Cartridge Recycling – We get money for used ink cartridges.

·         Box Tops – Look for information about a fun class contest.  We typically raise over $1000 every year from BOX TOPS!  See how far 10 cents can go!  Never stop clipping!  Ask friends and family to clip for you, too!   Imagine, if every child at Village View brings in 50 BOX TOPS (that's 5-6 a month) we could raise over $3000!  Help us make a difference, a dime at time!

 ·       Book Fair – Provides books for our classrooms and library.  http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/villageview
